What are sealed bids, and why do they matter?

What are sealed bids, and why do they matter?

In a sealed bid, a vendor submits their price without seeing what anyone else has offered. The bids stay sealed until the tender closes, and only then can the buyer compare them.

Why buyers like it

  • Vendors quote their real best price instead of reacting to each other.
  • It is harder to collude, rig bids or share prices.
  • Every bid is recorded, which leaves a clear audit trail.

Why vendors like it

A sealed process is fair to smaller vendors too. They compete on the quality of their offer, not on who they know.

Sealed does not mean lowest-price-wins

Buyers award against their own criteria. The lowest bid is not automatically the winning bid, and BharatTender's AI recommendation is there to help the buyer decide, not to decide for them.
